Emma Bearss & David Timm Senior Recital (with Bryon WIlson, Piano)

  • St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church 4439 West 50th Street Minneapolis, MN, 55424 United States (map)

Emma Bearss is a recent graduate of Central High School in St.Paul. Emma graduated one of the top ten students in her class and starting this fall, she will be attending Princeton University where she will study economics or philosophy and will also pursue a certificate in vocal performance.

In addition to being an active singer, Emma was the first chair bassoonist for the Central Band and Orchestra. She was the soprano section leader of the Central Chamber singers and this past year, she had the honor of co-directing The Central Minnesingers: a 12 member woman’s ensemble made up of underclassmen. She was a Soprano I in the 2017-2018 Minnesota All-State Women’s Choir and has also been a member of the Minnesota Opera’s youth vocal training program, Project Opera, for the past three years. Last year, she had the pleasure of being selected for their Apprentice program, and played the part of Athena in their most recent production of “The Odyssey”. In 2017, she received 2nd place in MN NATS high school competition in the classical division for high school women. Emma has been studying voice with Teresa Tierney for 5 years.

David Timm is a recent graduate of Henry Sibley High School. He will be starting his freshman year at Princeton University this fall where he plans to pursue a certificate of vocal performance and an undecided major.

David started his musical career with Project Opera, performing in youth operas and main-stage Minnesota Opera productions throughout elementary and middle school. In high school, he participated in Sibley’s drama and choir programs, winning multiple Outstanding spotlight awards, and participating two years in a row in the Minnesota All-State choir.  This past winter, David was named a finalist in MPR’s Minnesota Varsity competition. He has received 1st place in the NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) high school competition in both classical (sophomore and senior years) and music theater division (senior year). In music theater, he continued on and advanced to the NATS national semi-finals and represented the North Central region in Las Vegas just this past June.

In addition to his dedication to classical and musical theatre performance, David is an aspiring composer, artist, singer/songwriter, and producer. He had the privilege of composing the senior song sung by Sibley’s Chamber Choir at graduation. In his free time, he paints and records his own music. David is not sure what the future holds, but he knows music and art will always be a part of his life.
